Stuart Thom
Director
Stuart Thom has spent his life in international business. A graduate of Edinburgh University, he joined building materials supplier Turner & Newall before becoming personal assistant to Michael Heseltine MP. He subsequently worked for international groups such as Lonrho and Booker McConnell, before joining the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He served as First Secretary (Commercial) at the British Embassy in Moscow in the 1980s before being invited by accountants and consultants Ernst & Young to assist in developing their business in the new markets of Eastern Europe. In 1990 he was asked to set up their office in Moscow, which meant living in Russia for six years and travelling throughout Russia and Central Asia to generate business.
He returned to the UK, where he has acted as a business adviser to construction and engineering groups doing business in those markets, and latterly spent some time with a business events company organizing conferences and seminars in the construction and banking fields.
Stuart is currently a councilor in Wandsworth, and served as Mayor in 2007/8.
